Robert Coy Bailey, 73, of Danville, died at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Champaign. Robert was born June 19, 1933, in Danville, the son of Bernard Butch and Mildred (Coffing) Bailey. Robert married Betty Watts on October 17, 1952 and in this marriage had three children. He then married Shirley Workman on July 6, 1966 and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2002. Robert then married Isabella Nix on February 22, 2006 in Danville. She survives. Robert is survived by two sons, Michael David (Juanita) Bailey of W. Lebanon, IN and Robert Timothy (Dee Dee) Bailey of Edwardsville, IL; one daughter, Jeannie Marie Missy Dews of Portland, OR; one sister, Virginia M. Bailey of Danville; seven grandchildren, David Bailey, Stephen Bailey, Amanda Bailey, Jacob Bailey, Christy Bailey, Tracy Ramsey, and Stephanie Belcher and 6 great-grandchildren, Allie, Allen, Jenna, Michael, Aiden, and Emily. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph and Bernard. Robert retired from Illinois Bell after 35 years of service. He enjoyed photography and repairing talking book machines for the blind. Robert was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and past Vice-President of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He also liked eating at VIPS restaurant and making friends there. A celebration of Roberts life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 29, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor James Blue officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Roberts name to the American Cancer Association or to the Alzheimers Association.
