Robert Andrew Stevens passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, March 17, 2016. He was born on November 25, 1937 to Andrew and Erma (Follis) Stevens. In May 1960, Bob married Patsy (Caudill) Stevens, who survives. Bob was a member of Glendale Church in Springfield, Missouri and also Second Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois. Throughout life, Bob enjoyed scuba diving, playing softball, fishing, boating, camping, coaching Little League, attending functions of his grandchildren, playing dominoes, and spending time with very dear friends. Bob had a beautiful bass voice, which he used for the Lord while singing in a church quartet. It was with great pride that Bob served in the United States Navy. Bob retired after nearly 50 years from Heatcraft of Danville, IL. The love Bob had for his family was deep and unconditional. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy; a daughter Lisa (Dan) Witsman; a son, Andrew Van (Holly) Stevens; His grandchildren include: Clint and Blake Witsman; Tiffany (Garrick) Zoeller, Heather (Ryan) Lueck, Jordan (Lelia) Graves, Marcus (Jenna) Amore, L.J. Stevens, Stephen and Chopper; Great-grandchildren include Grayson Zoeller, Mason and Dominic Amore, Jay Stevens, and, coming soon, Miss Briar Lueck. His special nephews and nieces include John (Karen) Zotz, Mark (Terri) Zotz, Judy (Wilbur) Fields, Danny (Antonia) Vaughn, and Becci (Mark) Andrews and their families. Bob also had several brother and sisters-in law, Randy (Shelia) Caudill, Roger (Sharon) Caudill, Martha (Ted) Ayers, Brenda (Randy) Duncan, Kent Caudill, and Sue Caudill along with many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Stevens; sisters Barbara Vaughn and Pat Zotz; and brothers-in-law Jim Vaughn and Robert Zotz. Also deceased are brothers-in-law Sonny Caudill, Bubby Caudill, sister-in-law Nancy Fletcher, and his mother and father-in-law Haskins and Rose Caudill. A memorial service will be held at Second Church of Christ in Danville on Saturday, April 2 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 2:00, lasting one hour prior to the memorial service. Graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Drew Mentzer will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Glendale Church in Springfield, MO or Second Church of Christ, Danville, IL. The family would especially like to extend their appreciation to Robert Crockett and Grace Gonzalez from the Veterans Administration for the outstanding service and health care provided.
