Robert “Bob” Andrew Larson, 89, of Danville, passed away at 8:08 PM on August 24, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 4, 1924, in Vermilion County, the son of Clint and Catherine (Burtan) Larson, both preceding him in death. He married Esther Dolbee on May 5, 1951 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Don) Ritter and Janet (Richard) Clark both of Danville, one sister, June Meyer of Deland, FL, one special sister-in-law, Ruth Jones of Tilton, four grandchildren, Brandi Moore, Amy Perez, Kimberly Grider, and Stephanie Verando; and six great-grandchildren, Trenton, Camryn, Madison, Zach, Gabby, Alyissa, Ciarra, Jaxson and little Emily, along with several special nieces and nephews. Bob was an Army veteran of WWII and recipient of the Purple Heart, while serving in Europe under General George Patton. He worked in his familys coal mines, Allith Prouty, and retired from Hyster in 1986. Over the years Bob enjoyed boxing, baseball, hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, playing cards, and spending several winters at their Florida home. He also, loved animals and had one very special grand cat, “Miss Pashia” who will miss sleeping with grandpa every night and two grand dogs, “Tui and Lola”, who would always wait by the door for him to come home. Bob was a friend to everyone and will be truly missed. A celebration of life graveside service for Bob will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Newtown Cemetery. Burial will take place at Newtown Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Bobs name to the Vermilion County Humane Society.
