Robert A Myers

Robert A. Myers, Sr., 80, of Westville, passed away at 8:20am, Monday, March 12, 2012, at his home. He was born on February 21, 1932, in Dana, Indiana, the son of Claude and Zula (Myers) Myers, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Carol Taylor on October 7, 1951, in Westville, IL. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his children, Bob (Tammy) Myers, Jr. & Brenda (Bruce) Hinman, both of Westville; his grandchildren, Christi Denton, Bobby Myers, & Casey Cook, all of Westville; his great grandchildren, Thomas Tosh, Tyler Tosh, Taylor Flessner, Aubrianna Jenkins, & Taryn Boland; and his siblings, Ruth Grimm of Fithian, Helen Walters of Rockville, IN, Marvin Bud' (Sue) Myers of Cayuga, IN, Norma (Vernon) Peterson of Cayuga, IN, Raymond (Clarene) Myers of Chrisman, Gerald 'Shorty' (Janice) Myers of Covington, IN, & Dorothy (Jack) Martin of Dana, IN. The Myers family was blessed with many special nieces & nephews. They shared their lives with good friends, Jim & Annie Salrin. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra K. Myers, and three brothers, Harold, Everett, & Forest Myers. Robert graduated from Newport High School and later retired from General Motors after 37 years of service where he worked as a metallurgist in the lab. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ since 1951. He enjoyed attending the children's events and helping the area senior citizens with handyman work and lawn maintenance. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 311 Moses, Westville, with Pastor Connie Tapp Bandy officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8pm, Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State, Westville. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Provena Hospice Care or Trinity United Church of Christ.
