Rita Marie Howell

Rita Marie Howell, 79, of Danville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:42am on September 19, 2017. Rita was born in Danville on December 2, 1937 the daughter of Cyril and Nina Wicoff. On July 16, 1966 Rita married the love of her life Thomas Howell and they spent the next 51 years together, he survives. Rita is also survived by her daughter, Deborah (Randy) Mikel; two sons, Kevin Howell, Eric Howell; two brothers, Gerald Wicoff, Ronald Wicoff; one special sister, Barbara Rupert; five grandchildren, Heather Mikel, Sarah Mikel, Rachel Mikel, Dylan Mikel, Sara Howell; one great-grandchild, Hunter Ollis and four special friends, William and Betty Schuring, Janis Myers and Laurie Downing. Rita is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Wicoff, James Wicoff and three sisters, Mary Anne Douglas, Loretta Buckley and infant Carol Wicoff. Rita was a graduate of Schlarman Academy class of 1955. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Danville. Rita was a homemaker and devoted her entire life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Her love for Jesus was apparent in her every word and deed. She was small in stature but a mighty spiritual force to be reckoned with. Rita could often be found in her kitchen baking sweet treats for her friends and family. She knew everyone's favorites and presented them on birthdays, holidays, special occasions and simply because she loved you. When she wasn't in her kitchen, she could be found reading and studying her Bible. She had already hand-written the Bible word for word and had began a second attempt. She also enjoyed spending time on her computer managing family affairs and preserving precious memories. Rita has completed her earthly journey and is rejoicing in her eternal home, but she will be greatly missed on earth by all who had the privilege to know her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4pm on Saturday September 23, 2017 at First Assembly of God 428 N. Walnut St. Danville. Visitation will be held from 2pm to 4pm on September 23, 2017 at the Church. Cremation is to follow the service.
