Richard Rick' Lewis Shank, 54, of Danville, was called home by the Lord at 10:20pm, on October 15, 2011 at the Danville Care Center. He was born on September 13, 1957, in Danville, the son of Richard and Brenda Kay (Poulson) Shank. Both preceded him in death. Rick leaves behind two wonderful sons; Jeremy and Jason Shank, who gave him the strength to keep fighting, one loving brother; William (Sherri) Shank, three nieces; Kyla, Amanda, Billijo Shank, and his good friends; Scott Weir and family, and Susan Fry and family. Rick will also miss his two dogs; Jack and Lycan. He enjoyed airbrushing and free hand drawing and was extremely talented at both, leaving some to wonder why he worked at Quaker Oats for 33 years. Rick will be missed for his quick wittiness in conversations, and wants to thank all of his childhood, Quaker Oats friends, and acquaintances that were there to help him in his next venture to Heaven. Rick would also like to thank Dr. Tender at Carle Clinic and everyone at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, as well as the Danville Care and Hospice Team for their great compassion in his passing. A Special thanks to Rev. Danny Odomes, brother; George Rose, Mike Walker, and too many others to list for the spiritual comfort and support for Rick and his family. He will watch over us in a much better place. We will miss Rick and never forget him. Love your family and friends. A Visitation and Celebration of Life Service for Rick Shank will be from 1:30pm-3:30pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, with services beginning at 3:30pm at New Life Church of Faith in Danville located at 1419 North Bowman Ave. The Shank family would like to invite everyone to New Life Church of Faith Banquet Center following Rick's service for food and fellowship. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following his service and a graveside services will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 19, at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
