Danville Richard "Whitey" Block, 65, of Danville passed away at 11:37 AM at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL with his family by his side.
Whitey was born on June 22, 1954 the son of Raymond James and Camille Grace (Trotter) Block in Danville, IL.
Survivors include his three brothers; Gerald (Brenda DeMoss) Block of Danville, IL, Kenneth Block of Bismarck, IL and James (Nan Mettam) Block of Charleston, SC, three sisters; Karen (David) Martin of Danville, IL, Debby (William) Townsley of Danville, IL and Beth Carrigan of Danville, IL, two half-brothers; Chris Block of Tilton, IL and Brett Block of Cayuga, IN, one half-sister; Tammy Sexton of Rossville, IL as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and special friends.
Whitey is preceded in death by his parents and one sister; Marilyn Jones.
Whitey was a member of the Bowman Avenue Methodist Church. In 1965, Whitey was voted Mr. United Way while attending Cannon Grade School. He worked as an Optician for Chittick Eye Care and later drove a truck for Jack-In-The- Box. Whitey was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, loved riding his motorcycle, working on cars and motorcycles and one time fully restored a Camaro.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834 with Matt Filicsky officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 5:00 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
