Richard "Rich" W. Stanton, 76, of Danville passed away in the early morning on September 21, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born in Danville a son of George and Dola Stanton on June 28, 1945. His parents preceded him in death. Also preceding him was his granddaughter, Jessica Stanton, and sister, Kay Hollen.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Linda Stanton; his children Jim Stanton and Betsy (Dan) Williamson; and his stepchildren Jerry (Agatha) Barnes, Mike Barnes, and Jodi (Rob) Gentry. He also leaves behind 7 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, his twin brother Don (Marty) Stanton, and brother-in-law Bob Hollen. Richard loved his family. He was always looking for a reason to celebrate and get the family together.

Richard spent 25 years working in the Maintenance Department at General Motors before his retirement. He was a member of the Catlin Masonic Lodge #285. He enjoyed reading and fishing.

A graveside service for Richard will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 210 for the proud Army veteran. Memorial contribution in Richards name may be given to Vietnam Veterans of America at https://vva.org/donate/.

The family kindly asks that those in attendance Friday to all please wear masks and social distance per the current CDC guidelines to ensure everyones safety during this difficult time.
