Rossville- Richard Lee "Rick" Tomlinson, Jr., of Rossville passed away at 10:04 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 23, 1956 in Danville to Richard Lee, Sr. and Shirley L. Lyman Tomlinson. He married his wife of 34 years Kathy J. Gallion on December 26, 1977 in Hume, IL. She survives. Also surviving are five children, Chris Tomlinson, Paul (Jasmine) Tomlinson, Tiffany (David Briggs) Tomlinson, Lori (Rob) Mallory, and Beth (Steven) Phillips; his mother, Shirley; seven grandchildren, Anthony Taylor, Conner and Logan Tomlinson, Elizabeth, Caleb, and Gracie Briggs, and Baron Mallory; and a brother, David (Cindy) Tomlinson. After graduating from Shiloh High School, Rick served his country in the US Army from 1977-1989. Following his service, he worked in the Aerospace Division of Danville Metal Stamping as an inspector for 22 years. Rick loved country music, and was an avid Cubs and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed camping and fishing, golfing, as well as celebrating his favorite holidays, Halloween and Christmas. Most of all, Rick was a loving husband, father, son, and grandfather and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. A service to celebrate the life of Rick Tomlinson will be held at 5 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Virgil Haynes, Jr. will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Visitation will be held from 3-5 PM prior to the service on Sunday, also at Sunset in Danville.
