Richard J. "Pete" Grayson left this world Tuesday November 22 2016 at his home in Danville with close family by his side. He was born April 23, 1937 in Danville the son of Robert and Lucille Grayson. Pete leaves behind his cherished wife, Jean of 51 years, also two daughters; Melissa Grayson and Karen Costigan, five grandchildren; Ryan Grayson, April (Tyler McCoy) Grayson, Emily Grayson, Tabatha Costigan and Heather Costigan, close family friend Cody Crawley, five great grandchildren; Mackenzie, Maddie, Aiden "Chip", Riley and Isaiah, his brother; William "Bill" Grayson and many nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his, parents, one brother David Grayson and his sister Roberta Stingley. Pete had served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966 and had retired from Danville Metal Stamping after 46 years. Pete's greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids walking trails, picnicking at parks, also having family cookouts and get-togethers. He had a good sense of humor and loved to socialize. Pete was always supportive of his family and will inspire us all through the rest of our lives. Pete could always be found working in his yard and spending time in his garage. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, so please join his family in celebrating his life by wearing your Cubs apparel. A celebration of Pete's life will bet 10:00 am Wednesday November 30, 2016 at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel 105 East South Main St. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Garver. Visitation for friends and family will be 4:00pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday November 29, 2016 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
