Richard Pate

Richard Pate, 73, of Westville, passed away at 12:16pm, Monday, May 20, 2019, at his home. He was born in Danville, IL, on February 28, 1946 the son of Walter Scott Pate and Mergie Lou {George} Pate, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Teri Wasson on October 27, 1976. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage and she will miss him dearly. He is also survived by: his children, Richard Scott (Juanita) Pate, James Andrew (Heather) Farren, Ronald Wayne Pate, Brian Lee (Rebecka) Pate, & Christopher Michael (Mary) Farren; his fourteen grandchildren; his six great grandchildren; his sister, Lois Howard; his sisters-in-law, Shelbie Brewer & Kay Evans; and his brother-in-law, Gordon Wasson. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Eric Pate, and his three sisters, Helen Howard, Bonnie Hoard, & Barbara Carson. Richard was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. He worked for Bohn Aluminum for 40 years. He later worked at CRIS Services for 8 years. He enjoyed taking part in World War II re-enactments. He had many coffee buddies at Stone Mountain Caf who will miss him. Richard loved his family above all else and cherished his time spent with them. A celebration of Richards life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, May 24, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Westville, located at 414 S State St., with Pastor John Mincy officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm - 7:00pm, Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Pate Cemetery, Catlin.
