Richard L Passauer

Richard L. Passauer, 72, of Rantoul, IL passed away at his home on October 9, 2024. He is at peace now with his Lord and Savior in heaven.

Richard was born September 12, 1952 in Kissimmee, FL, the son of Charles Passauer and Lorraine (Zebe) Sylvester.     He married Viola Mae Johnson in 1991 at the American Lutheran Church, Rantoul, and they shared over 33 years together in Rantoul.  She preceded him in death on April 15, 2024.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Amber Passauer and Courtney Lamar, both of Niagra Falls, NY. They blessed him with 4 grandchildren: Antonio, Sheridan, Keyona, Natalya and 1 great-grandchild, Antonio Jr.  Also surviving is a brother Joe Passauer of Wintergarden, FL.

His marriage to Viola brought him 3 stepchildren, Sheila (John) Turke of Jacksonville, IL, Curtis (Melissa) Johnson of Monticello, IL and Jerry Johnson of Rantoul. As well as 7 step-grandchildren:  Emily (John) Norfleet, Eli Johnson, Evan Johnson, Ashley (David) Lumbert, Brandi (Tyler) Reingardt, Faith (Ben) Crabtree, Hope Johnson, 8 step great-grandchildren: Kali, Kenzi, Kole, Addilyn, Logan, Rhett, Karsyn and baby Archer on the way!

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Gary and Daniel and a sister Lorraine, known as “Bunny”.

Richard was a high school graduate and from there he enlisted in the military, serving 25 years in the United States Air Force.  He was active in the gulf war and also served several years at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.  He retired at Chanute Air Force Base where he was a manager at the NCO Club and the Officers Club.  He liked to hang out at the VFW when he wasn’t busy running the Rantoul Moose Club.  As well as all his Civil Service work he also worked at Lincoln’s Challenge, Rantoul.

Raised Catholic, he had a good relationship with Lord, Jesus Christ.  He loved his family and enjoyed the times spent with his grand and great-grandkids.  He was a proud supporter of the New York sports teams, watching them all but especially the Yankees and the Mets.  He also loved fishing and working on his yard.

Private services will be held at a later date.
