El Paso, TX – Richard Dean Owen, 65, of El Paso, TX, formerly of Danville, IL passed away at 4:08 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Kindred Southwest Hospital in Fort Worth. He was born June 12, 1959 in Danville to Tommy and Ann (Newell) Owen.

He is survived by his children, Angela Owen-Salas of Burleson, TX, Kerry (Shawna) Owen of Denver, CO, and Robin Kincaid of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Mia, Adriel, Mackenzie, Mason, Jessica, and Savannah; five siblings, Terry, Steven, Mike and Tony Owen and Kristal Wolfe; and two half-brothers, Chris and Larry Newell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Owen; and a mother-in-law, Peggy Holland.

After graduating High School, Richard served his country in the United States Army. He most recently worked as a property manager but enjoyed spending his free time riding his motorcycle and traveling when possible. He was also determined to find gold and recently had the opportunity to try his hand at “panning.” Most of all, Richard loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Richard Owen will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial and military honors will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 AM prior to the service on Friday, also at Sunset in Danville.
