Richard Newberry

Richard Newberry, 78, of Danville, passed away at 1:45 AM February 7, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Richard was born on December 29, 1933 the son of James and Helen Ann (Culp) Newberry. He was married to his wife of 50 years Shirley (Lee) Newberry. She survives. He is survived by two sons- Matt (Nancy) Newberry and Steve B. Ridgewater, two brothers- John (Beverly) Newberry and Charles Clemmons, six grandchildren-Bonnie and Grace Newberry, Colby and Kayla Bridgewater, and Dino and Dustin Mathenia and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-Sally Jo Coon and Sheila Fields, and one brother- James Newberry. Richard worked over 40 years for Pepsi Bottling Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and pitching horseshoes. A Celebration of Richard's Life will take place on Thursday February 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Reverend James Blue officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday February 9, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will take place for family only at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville.
