Richard J. McQuown, 67, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025 at his home in Chrisman, surrounded by his family. Affectionately known as “Roscoe” by his family, he was born on June 8, 1958, to Thomas and Theda McQuown. Rick grew up in Danville, where he graduated from Danville High School. He dedicated 22 years of his life to his career as a sheet metalworker at Danville Metal Stamping, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues through his unwavering work ethic.
Rick was known for his ability to make himself at home wherever he went, fostering connections with everyone he encountered. His enduring loyalty and love for his family and friends defined his character. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him often remarked that Rick would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. His quiet demeanor, particularly in the later years of his life, and gentle strength became a source of comfort and support for many.
An avid outdoorsman, Rick found joy in nature, particularly through hunting and fishing. He embraced these passions with the heart of a child, reveling in the simple pleasures they brought him. His zest for life and playful spirit endeared him to many, leaving a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege to share in his adventures.
Rick was preceded in death by his father Thomas, his brother Mark McQuown, and both sets of maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his mother, Theda; his devoted wife of 47 years, Rachel {Beasley} McQuown; his daughters, Misty (Tim) Rose and Bobbie (Matt) Haton; and his grandchildren Tobie Haton, Zack Rose, Brodie Haton, Whitnie Haton, Alex Rose, Rockie Haton, and Madison Rose. He is also survived by his siblings Leslie (Kenneth) Merrill, Teea (Dan) Nys, and David (Crystal) McQuown, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be from 4:00 – 5:30 pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Grace Community Church, located at 1629 King Street in Tilton, Illinois. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow immediately at 5:30 pm that evening at the church. Pastor Troy Warner will officiate. Per Rick’s wishes, he will be cremated before being placed to rest at a later date.
