Richard Matthew Hayden

Mahomet - Richard Matthew Hayden, 90, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Glenwood Assisted and Supportive Living in Mahomet, IL. He was born on December 22, 1927 in Medford, MA to Matthew and Margaret (Curran) Hayden. Richard married Geraldine Marie O'Meara on August 7, 1954 in Stoneham, MA. Richard is survived by his wife; children Daniel Joseph Hayden, Douglas Matthew (Rajka) Hayden, David Arthur Hayden, and Cheryl (Jean Hayden) Morin; grandchildren Jessica (Jason) Moore, Danielle (Joseph) Gram, Margaret Hayden, Katherine Hayden, Dane Hayden, Tiana Hayden, Ben (Katlyn) Morin, and Matthew Morin; great-grandchildren J.D. Moore, Hayden Gram, Eli Morin, and Aria Morin. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marie. Richard graduated from Boston University on June 8, 1953 with a master's degree in education, and he was a former superintendent of schools. He was a sailing enthusiast, he loved football, camping, playing chess, and playing bridge. A memorial celebration of Richard's life will be held from 10am-11am on Thursday June 21, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820.
