Richard M. Blair

Danville- Richard "Dick" M. Blair, 78, of Danville passed away at 2:45 PM on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at North Logan Health Care in Danville. He was born on January 13, 1932, the son of Paul and Beaulah Connor Blair. He married Linda A. Baumgart on February 12, 1965 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are 7 children Candi (Mike) Baldwin, Beth (Butch) Christian, Rich Blair, Tami West, Julie (Rick) Alesi, Jim Sheahan, and John (Annie) Sheahan; 14 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents in law Elmer and Frances Baumgart, and a granddaughter. Richard was a DHS graduate and retired from the City of Danville working in the Streets Department. He was a musician, having played the drums for over 60 years and was past president of the Musician's Union Local 90. He served on the board at the Humane Society and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. A memorial service to celebrate Dick's life will be held at 4pm on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will also be held from 1-4 pm on Monday, prior to the services at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will take place at a later date at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, Alzheimer's Association, or to the donor's choice.
