Richard E Lyons

Richard E. Lyons came to the end of his journey with us on earth May 1st, 2026. He was born in Tilton, IL on December 28, 1937 to Julia (Lourdeau) & James Lyons whom proceeded him in death along eith his sister Gloria and 2 brothers Jim an Aimme Lyons. Also, his wife Sandra Lyons their daughter Nina Morrison and their two sons Richard "Boone" Lyons Jr. an Andrew "A.J." Lyons.

Richard is survived by his daughters Candy (Edwin Jr.) Barton, Julie Kiger, and Amanda Erwin. His grandchildren Sandra Morrison, Linda (Jon) Freiman, Luke (Erin) Barton, Brian (Danelle) Klugow Jr., Dwayne Kiger, and Hillery (Milo) Bushman remember him fondly. As well 13 great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Alivia held a special place in his heart along with his dog Baby.

He retired from lauhoff grain co.in 2000 where he was a pipefitter. Although that is not where his talents ended. He was a great cook who could make a pot of "soup" out of anything. His creative mind always at work making something from can crushers to yard decor. He loved hunting and fishing with the guys and collected almost everything from stamps to coins which he took great pride in along with being a cub fan and a Chicago Bears man no matter what their record was. He loved working puzzles, he put a special one together for each grandchild and had it framed. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him even when he was just yelling " coffee"!

Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 414 S State St, Westville, Illinois. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 12:30 AM, with Chaplin Kevin officiating. Burial will take place at Atherton Cemetery, 2132 Perrysville Rd, Danville, IL 61834.
