Danville- Richard Lee Snook, Jr., 62, of Danville, IL passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born July 30, 1949, the son of Richard Sr. and Margaret Barney Snook. Richard married Phyllis Nixon June 11, 1969 in Danville. She survives. Richard is also survived by three daughters, Vicki (Jeff) Garland, Brenda Snook, and Patty Snook; six grandchildren, Brittni (Craig) Chambliss, Jordan, Taylor, Breanna, Cameron, and Bruce; one great grandson, Caiden Chambliss; a brother, Kenny Snook of California; two sisters, Marsha (Jim) Weaver and Pam (Gene) Snook; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his very good friends, Gordan Parsons, Ed Walton, Delbert Morrison, Bernie Brewer, Terry Abernathy, Larry Brewer, Jeff Link, Orville Meeker, and Drew Rush. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two nephews, Brandon Nixon and Dustin Pruitt. Richard was an avid NASCAR fan (Tony Stewart). He loved country music, working on cars, playing cards, and being with family and friends, especially his grandkids. Richard was a United States Marine veteran who served our country in the Vietnam War. He worked as a mechanic most of his life and had to always stay busy. He would always lend a helping hand to anyone. He will be sadly missed by all. A service to celebrate the life of Richard Snook , Jr., will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM prior to the service on Saturday, also at Sunset in Danville.
