Danville- Richard Lee Pearson, 71, of Danville died at 4:50 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 9, 1939 in rural Ridgefarm, IL to Elza and Augusta Smith Pearson. He married Ruby A. True on July 16, 1965 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are five children Debra L. Young, James E. Pearson, and Michael E. Pearson, all of Indianapolis, IN, Scott (Denette) Pearson of Ft. Wayne, IN and Steven (Lisa) Pearson of Chicago; two sisters Patricia Frattick and Linda Hughes, both of Danville; 11 grandchildren Damion and Danielle Young and Joshua and Jeremy Pearson of Indianapolis, Marissa, Morgan, Branden and Brian Pearson of Ft. Wayne, IN, Zachary Pearson of Danville and Seth and Laurissa Pearson of Chicago; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers and 4 sisters. Dick was a member of Carpenters Local 269 and worked for Ore W. Vacketta and Sons Construction, retiring after 40 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, was a 32 degree Freemason and a Shriner. Dick coached little league baseball and football for over ten years and loved golfing and fishing. A service to celebrate the life of Richard Pearson will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown. Pastor Gerald McPhillips will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville at their on-site crematory. Dick will be memorialized at Forest Park Cemetery in Georgetown. Visitation will be from 1-3:30 PM prior to the services on Saturday also at Bethel. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
