Richard Lee Cooper, 68, of Georgetown, passed away at 4:28 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Gardenview Manor in Tilton. Richard was born June 10, 1950 in Danville, Illinois, the son of George and Gertrude Sheperd Cooper. Surviving Richard are his two brothers, Bill Cooper of Georgetown and Ron Cooper of St Joseph; four sisters, Helen Hardesty of Danville, Shirley Hardesty of Urbana, Carol Kietzmann of Tilton, and Rose Lawyer of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Scott Dearing, Dewey Cooper, Robert Cooper, and Jim Cooper; three sisters, Barbara Midcap, Alice Truax, and Debbie Cooper. In his younger years, Richard was a cook at the former Sirloin House in Danville. He then moved to Florida and worked factory jobs before moving back home to Georgetown. He enjoyed spending time with his family. A celebration of the life of Richard Lee Cooper will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Houghton-Leasure Chapel, 200 E West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Officiating services will be Phil Miller. Burial will follow at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian.
