Richard L. Coake

Covington Richard L. Coake, 78, of Covington, IN, passed away at 9:43 PM on June 15, 2019, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL.

Richard was born on January 7, 1941, the son of Orville and Gladys (Rice) Coake in Danville, IL. He married Shirley Rouse on August 14, 1966, in Danville.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Coake of Covington, IN; two daughters, Debra (Tracy) Taulman of Danville, IL, and Cheryl (David) Cross of St Cloud, FL; one brother, Bob Coake of Tyler, TX, and three sisters, Jane Grams of Tyler, TX, Rita Coake of Barrington, IL, and Judy (Jim) Baer of Shippensburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jake) Martin, Zachary Taulman, Jonathan Cross, Rebecca Cross, Lydia Cross, Michael Richard Cross, and Faith Cross, as well as one great granddaughter, Annabelle Martin.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents.

Richard loved God and served his community while attending the Community Church of God and most recently Coal Branch Independent Church. He was a member of the IBEW Local 538 and retired from Anderson Electric in 2000. Richard was a man of creativity and ingenuity who loved his family dearly. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his friends. His hobbies included reading, visiting farm shows, and collecting antique Oliver tractors. Richard was known as a joyful man who worked heartily for the Lord as he generously cared for those in need.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834. Pastor Tracy Taulman will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019, from 5:00 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richards memory are requested to either the Coal Branch Independent Church or Professionals Global.
