Richard Kruger Jr.

Richard Jody D. Kruger Jr., 61, of Danville, passed away at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 08, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Richard was born on November 18, 1947 in Danville, the son of Richard D. and Imogene L. (Pittman) Kruger. He married Linda L. Martin on August 9, 1969 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. She survives. He is also survived by two sons - Chad (Kim) Kruger of Danville, and Matthew Kruger of Danville; one daughter- Angela (Richard) Ferriman of Philo, IL; three brothers- Frederick , Joseph and William Kruger; one sister- Margaret Kruger; father and mother-in-law-Robert and Connie Martin of Westville; one brother-in- law - Robert S. Martin of Westville; two sister-in laws - Margie (Mark) Potter of Appleton, WI and Lorelei (Kenny) Moreman of Tilton; five grandchildren- Kennedy Kruger, Grayson Kruger, Jarek Crowder, Jackson Crowder and Alayna Ferriman, one aunt, many nephews, nieces, and cousins and one dear friend Wesley Collins of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one cousin Kenneth McAllister Richard graduated from Danville High School in 1965. Following High School he attended Danville Area Community College and Illinois State University, in Normal, IL. We was a member of the United States Marines Corps, serving active duty during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Corporal. After the war Richard owned and operated a retail store until his retirement. Richards hobbies included fishing, watching classic westerns, coaching youth sports teams, bowling, and cooking. He loved College Basketball and was an avid Illini fan, but his most enjoyable times were spent with family and playing with his grandchildren. Richard was also a past member of multiple Veterans organizations. A Celebration of the Life of Richard Jody D. Kruger Jr. will be at 10:00 am Friday, September 11, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Phil McGarvey officiating. Burial will be held following the service at St. Peter and Pauls Cemetery in Westville, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in Richards name to the Donors choice.
