Richard Koebrich

Richard W. "Dick" Koebrich, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Champaign on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Dick was born on December 30, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of Edward and Agnes (Fitzgerald) Koebrich. Dick is survived by his daughter, Kelli (Taylor) White of Champaign; his son, Ken (Jill) Koebrich of Plainfield; his two grandchildren, Jack White and Kami Koebrich; three sisters, Margaret Bennett of Arlington, Texas, Jean Goshorn of Oaklawn, and Rosemary Stitt of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Koebrich Jr. Dick graduated from Danville High School in 1948. He served with the U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Division in the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in 1953. Dick worked for Prudential Insurance Company as an Agent, Training Consultant, and Sales Manager. He received 16 President's Citation awards and many other awards during his career. He retired from Prudential in 1990 after 36 years of service. Dick joined the American Business Club (AMBUCS) Champaign Chapter in 1976. He was elected Chapter President, District Governor, Regional Director, and National President. His other past memberships included: Champaign Elks, Knights of Columbus, Moose, AMVETS, Toastmasters International, and Life Underwriters Association. Dick became a Tour Host for Parkhill Tours in 1993 and later with Franklin Travel Agency. He traveled extensively throughout the world and United States. Dick will be remembered for his outgoing personality, storytelling, and sense of humor. He loved nature and wildlife. He enjoyed fishing, photography, and spending time outside working in his garden. Dick treasured his family and friends and cherished the time he spent with them. A private service will be held. Memorials may be made to Greater Champaign County AMBUCS, P.O.
