Richard E. Stewart

Elkhart, Ind. - Richard E. Stewart, 76, formerly of Covington and a resident of Woodland Manor in Elkhart passed away at 11:09 a.m. EST Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Woodland Manor.

He was born August 24, 1945 in Bloomington, Indiana the son of the late Stacey J. and Adria Eleanor Stewart.

Richard married Sandra Kay Watts on February 19, 1966 in Covington, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2009.

Survivors include his daughter: Toni (Louis) Estrada of Elkhart, Indiana; two grandchildren: Damian Pedigo and Sadie Estrada; two sisters: Wanda (Jim) Miller of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and Wannita LaTourette of Gessie, Indiana, and one brother: Merle (Liz) Stewart of Cave City, Kentucky, along with several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter: Gina R. Stewart; sister: Frieda Strong, and brother: Winfred Dale Stewart.

Richard retired from Werner Trucking as a student trainer. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services: Noon EST Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Ashton Stewart; Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EST Tuesday, February 22, 2022 until time of services.
