Richard 'Dick' Warner

Heaven gained another angel today. Richard R. (Dick) Warner went to heaven on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Presence United Samaritan Medical Center, Danville, Illinois. Dick was born on December 16, 1945, in Danville the son of Frank and Edith Wainwright Warner. He married Kay Dawkins on August 18, 1973, in Louisville, Illinois. She survives along with son Jason (Melissa) Warner of Oakwood, daughter, Julie (Bill) Morgan of Danville. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Allyn Warner and Shayne Warner, Auburn, Illinois, Peyton Warner, Oakwood, Taylor Morgan and Trey Morgan, Danville, Illinois and a great-grandson, Jaeden Morgan, Danville, Illinois. Those preceding him in death include his parents, Frank and Edith Warner, brother, Frank Warner, Sister Marcia Warner and infant son, Jeffrey Warner. He attended Oakwood High School. After high school, he entered the United States Air Force where he served his country proudly, including a tour of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He retired from Hyster Company after 31 years of service. Dick loved his Oakwood Community where he volunteered for a few years on the Oakwood Fire Department and Oakwood Ambulance Service. He was also a member of Oakwood American Legion Post 610, Vermilion Heights Christian Church and past member of the Danville Coin Club. He enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends at the Oakwood Laundromat and McDonalds. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vermilion Heights Christian Church, Presence Cancer Center or Oakwood American Legion. Services will be held on Saturday, October 31, at Vermilion Heights Christian Church, 725 Oakwood Ave, Danville at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service. Everyone please dress casual and come and celebrate his life with us. Sunset's Oakwood Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
