Richard 'Dick' Shockey

Danville - Richard "Dick" Shockey, 81, of Danville passed away at 1:30 AM on Saturday November 17, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis. Dick was born on September 5, 1937 in Lineville, IA the son of Earl Dean and Noreen Avis (Gooden) Shockey. He married Jane Ellen Sponsler August 14, 1965 in Leon, IA and she survives. Survivors include his wife, Jane Ellen Shockey of Danville, IL; one son, Rhett (Meara) Shockey of O'Fallon, IL; one brother, Rick Shockey of Bradenton, FL; one sister, Patty Oliver of Osceola, IA; two granddaughters, Rowan and Arden Shockey of O'Fallon, IL and many extended family and special friends. Dick is preceded in death by his parents. Dick was a Graduate of Northeast Missouri State College, now Truman State, and received his Masters and Specialized education from Drake University. He was a member of St Paul's Catholic Church, the Danville Boat Club, served on the Civic Center Board, and was the Director of the NJCAA Basketball Tournament for many years. Dick was Vice President of Administration and Finance at DACC from 1989 - 2005 and CEO of Lakeview College of Nursing from 2004 -2013. A Celebration of Life on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, with Father Bowan Schmitt officiating. Cremation Rites will be accorded following services and inurnment will be at a later date. A Rosary Service prior to Visitation will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2018 with visitation from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
