Richard W. Phillips, 69, of Danville passed away on September 2, 2007 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. Dick was born August 16, 1938 in Tilton son of Woodrow and Bertha Jane Tapscott Phillips. He married Nancy Johnson on May 5, 1957 in Danville. She survives along with their three sons: Rick Phillips of Home Gardens, IL, Stephan Phillips of Missoula, MT, and Jeffery (Stacy) Phillips of Chatsworth, IL, Brother: Delbert (Joyce) Phillips of Catlin, IL, sister: Shirley (Tom) Harris of Big Stone gap, VA; Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, son Michael, and Brother Larry. Dick attended Danville schools and had worked for the Danville Country Club as a grounds keeper for 7 years until getting hired on at General Motors. He later retired from GM after 33 years in water treatment. He loved landscaping, gardening, and restoring his 1973 Oldsmobile convertible. He was a member of Local #579 in Tilton. A Celebration of Dicks Life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 10, 2007 at Faith Community Church in Tilton, next door to his house, with Pastor Richard Cook officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday afternoon at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
