Westville - Richard "Dick" L. Chrostowski, 78, of Westville passed away at 10:55 AM on Monday, July 17, 2017 at his home. He was born on April 7, 1939 to Alex and Ruth (Shrout) Chrostowski in Westville. He married Christine "Mickey" Troxel on April 8, 1961. She preceded him in death June 2, 2000. He is survived by four children, Kathy Bone of Williamsport, IN, Tom (Lisa) Stitt of Kokomo, IN, Becky (Mike) Wright of Westville, and Teresa (Ben) Ryback of Westville; one brother, Gerald (Barbara) Chrostowski of Newburg, IN; a sister-in-law, Erna Chrostowski of Hollandale, WI; grandchildren, Jason Bone, Misty Bartley, Rachel Sanks, Kristin Foley, Ashley Wagoner, Ryan Stitt, Chase Ryback, Samantha Stitt, Travis Wainscott, and Samara Sears; 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by both parents, and 4 brothers, Stanley, Jimmy, William, and Donald Chrostowski. Dick proudly served six years in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he was an active member of the 293 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in Danville. He served as President of the Executive Board and President of the Local 293. Dick was a member of the American Legion Post 51 in Westville. He was a two-time Post Commander as well as a member of the Post Honor Guard and the executive board. Dick and his wife Mickey enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends and visiting Las Vegas. Dick's greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed the many fishing trips with his brothers to Indiana and Tennessee. He was very loved and will be deeply missed by many. A service to celebrate the life of Richard "Dick" Chrostowski will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Sunset-Urbas Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, IL. Pastor David Leary will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Westville. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, July 21, also at Sunset-Urbas in Westville. Memorials may be made to Presence Cancer Center, Iroquois Memorial Hospice, or the Westville American Legion Post #51 Honor Guard.
