Richard “Dick” Jones, 89, of Danville, IL passed away at the Waters of Covington on October 11, 2024 in Covington, IN.
Dick was born on May 7, 1935 the son of Charles Henry and Garnet Lucille (Chapman) Jones is Paris, IL. He married Ruth Ann Thomas on March 16, 1960 in Shawneetown, IL and she preceded him in death on January 22, 2021.
Survivors include his daughter, Carole Ann (Scott) Chalkus of Salem, IL, his son, Richard (Jeanne Ann) Jones of Danville, IL, four grandchildren, Michelle Chalkus, Brittany Chalkus, Cheyenne Chalkus (Caleb Branch) of Salem, IL and Michael (Juliameera) Jones of Rossville, IL, as well as thirteen great grandchildren, Brianna, Gage, Kaiden, Mady, Dominick, Skyler, Aubrey, Morgan, Hadlie, Aurora, Violet, Yashua Paul, and Nyla Ann.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 60 years, Ruth Ann Jones.
Dick graduated from Paris High School and served in the United States Army. He was a member of East Park Church of Christ and retired from Hyster after 32 years of service. Dick enjoyed spending his free time fishing, camping, watching FOX News, going to auctions, antiquing and visiting his grandchildren. He was an avid Illini sports fan, cheering on the football and basketball teams and was also a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 7, 2025 at East Park Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois, 1224 E Voorhees Danville, IL 61834. Steve Cordle will officiate. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL at 12:00 Noon with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210.
