Richard A. 'Dick' Blue, Sr., 82 of Tilton, passed away at 1:07 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 13, 1932 in Danville, the son of Harry and Agnes (Pierce) Blue. He married Donna Gruber on September 17, 1955 in Tilton. Dick worked for General Motors Tilton Foundry for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He proudly served in the US Army in Germany from 1952 to 1955. He was a member of Catlin American Legion, Tilton Historical Society, and the UAW Local 579. He was a past member of the Tilton Lions Club and the Korean War Veterans. Dick enjoyed woodworking, home remodeling and gardening. He was a die-hard Cubs fan and enjoyed Illini basketball. Dick enjoyed helping people, especially his children. Dick is survived by his wife, Donna, who will dearly miss him. He is also survived by his daughter, Ruth Lynn Woodard of Danville; his son, Rich (Lisa) Blue of Tilton; his grandchildren, Kayla (Branden) Klugow of Danville, Kelsey Blue of Catlin, Jerrad Wilson of Danville and Devin Wilson of Normal, IL; his great grandchildren, Braden, Nolan, Dallas and Kinsley; a brother-in-law, Gene Hooper and a sister-in-law, Rita Blue. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. A celebration of Dick's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2015, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Gene Hooper officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
