Covington, IN- Richard E. "Dick" Adams, 77, of Covington passed away at 11:20 PM on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Waters of Covington. He was born on December 13, 1934 in State Line, IN to Cecile and Mildred Shoaf Adams. He was married to Peggy Tittle in 1955. He later married Mary Josephine Shoaf Allen on March 17, 1991. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Rick (Martha) Adams of Lafayette, IN and Chris Adams of Covington; two daughters, Stacy (Jeff) Taylor of Williamsport, IN and Lisa (Larry) Barney of Westville, IL; two step-sons, Samuel (Wendy) Allen of Covington, and Daniel Allen with partner Judy, also of Covington; three sisters, Dorothy Keller of Covington, Betty Minser of Fithian, IL, and Dorris Maryland (Robert) Gross of Covington, IN; three grandchildren, Brad (Jessica) Barnhill of Hernando, MS, Taryn Taylor with partner Cory Gay of Williamsport, IN, and Jerrid Dale Barney; step-grandchildren Lindsey, Dustin, Chelsea, Daniel, Caroline, and Taylor; three great-grandchildren Tyler Alan Barnhill, Sarah Elizabeth Barnhill, and Zander Gay; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson Tyler Dale Barney. Dick served his country in the Army from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed at the Las Cruces Missile Base in New Mexico. He then became a Gas Journeyman with Illinois power for 43 years until his retirement in 1996. Dick enjoyed golfing, travelling, NASCAR, basketball and football, and gardening. He was also an avid Pacers and Colts fan. Most importantly, he loved farming with the Ohl's in the spring and fall. A service to celebrate the life of Dick Adams will be held at 2 PM ET on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Sunset's Covington Chapel. Pastor Joe Humrichous will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11-2 PM ET prior to the service on Friday, also at Sunset's Covington Chapel.
