Richard Debarba

Richard DeBarba, 71, of Danville, IL, passed away at 5:43am, Thursday, February 18, 2021, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL. He was born on November 12, 1949, in Danville, IL, the son of Richard and Phyllis {Fitzsimmons} DeBarba. He was united in marriage to Beverly Wimberly on September 28, 1968. She survives.

He is also survived by his sons, Richard (Maida) DeBarba of Bloomington & Jeff (Julie) DeBarba of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Clark DeBarba, Rica DeBarba, Tiara Watson, Hannah Watson, & Jennifer Watson; his great granddaughter, Isabella DeBarba; his cousin, Steven (Christine) Fitzsimmons; and his niece, Mandy Pascual. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda.

Richard was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He worked as an Electrical Engineer. He loved to do trap shooting with Clark, watching Rica in her plays and musical performances, going to flea markets with Hannah, riding horses with Jennifer, attending fireworks with Tiara and go fishing with his son, Jeff. He was a regular patron at the Stone Mountain Caf Club for morning coffees. Richard was happiest when he could take his grandkids to theme parks. They were his world and he loved taking care of them. His legacy lives on through the memories he made with all his family.

A celebration of Richards life will be held at 12:00pm, Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the funeral home. It is kindly requested that attendees wear masks and practice social distancing. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given in his name to Shriners Hospitals or St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
