Richard Cross

Richard Cross, 67, of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on February 14, 1958, son of the late Chester and Elmira (Irvin) Cross.

Richard was united together with Linda Smith on August 10, 1993. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2022.

Survivors include his children: Gage (Melissa) Cross, Kayla (Reece) Cross, Shadrach Cross, Angie (Charlie) Cox, his four legged son Romeo, and his daughter Nikki McClain; his grandchildren: Nile, Lettyonna, Emily, Gabriel, Lorelai, Kylee, along with others; four sisters: Shirley (Melvin) McPherson, Connie Twilla, Sandy (Steve) Armstrong and Sarah (Randy) Cross; and one brother Chester Butch Cross

Along with his parents and his wife, Richard was preceded in death by a brother: Ernie Cross and a sister: Dessie Cross.

Richard found joy in the simple things in life and loved spending time outdoors. He often said that he wanted to live forever because of how much he loved life. He enjoyed ginseng hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, and loved it when it rained. Most of all, Richard loved his family. He will forever be remembered as someone who would be there for anyone no matter what.

A Celebration of Life for Richard will take place at 2PM EST on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s DeVerter Chapel 215 N. Division Street Cayuga, Indiana 47928. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Linda, at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana. Visitation will be from 1PM – 2PM EST on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the funeral home in Cayuga.
