Richard 'Bruno' Bruns

Rantoul - Richard A. "Bruno" Bruns, 63, of Rantoul went home to be with the Lord at 11:45 AM on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Paxton Healthcare and Rehab. He was born on November 27, 1952 in Urbana to Edward and Margaret (Henning) Bruns. He married Wanda Rippetoe on March 21, 1981 in Hobbs, NM. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2014. He is survived by a son, Dustin Bruns of Sayre, OK; two sisters, Debbi (Steve) Long of Gifford and Sandy (Terry) Bishop of Penfield, IL; a grandchild, Warlo Bruns; two nieces Nikki (Neal) Fuller of Gifford and Jami (Robert) Early of Clarksville, TN; a nephew, Seth (Madison) Bishop of Clarksville, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews in Gifford and Oklahoma. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jimmy. Learning to drive his first semi at age fourteen, the love of trucking and the open road became his life. He was an avid sports fan, but cheered especially hard for the Cubs. He grew up in Gifford until he met his wife and they settled in Oklahoma for 35 years. Bruno was a graduate of Rantoul Township High School, a confirmed member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and also a member of Gateway Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. but will always be remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle, and dedicated father. Bruno's family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Paxton Rehab and Hospice for their loving care. A memorial visitation for Bruno Bruns will be held from 2-3 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Sunset's Champaign-Urbana Chapel. Memorials may be made in his name to the donor's choice.
