GEORGETOWN- Rich Starwalt, 66 of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Clarion Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rich was born on September 12, 1941, in Champaign, Ill, the son of the late Ralph and Evelyn Smith Starwalt-Teske. On January 21, 1961, Rich married Penny Cornwell in South Carolina. Rich is survived by his wife Penny, his daughter Lori (Jerry) Tuggle, of Indianola, and his son Brian (Lori) Starwalt of Georgetown. Also surviving are his three grandsons: Christopher (Jennifer) Starwalt of Maria Del Ray, CA, Brandon Tuggle and Tyler Starwalt. One great-grandson; Gaige Starwalt and another great-grandchild due in June. Rich is also survived by his two brothers; Ray Starwalt of Washington State, Greg Starwalt of Arizona, two sisters; Sue Yourkey of Thorntown, IN, and Mary Eizingay of Fulton, Ill. Lisa Starwalt, his infant daughter, sister Betty and brother Ron precede Rich in death. Rich served in the U.S. Army for thee years, and later, was employed at Danville Metal Stamping for 27 years before health issues forced him into early retirement. He enjoyed all sporting activities, tractors, and being outside. He was a key member in getting the Georgetown Youth Football Program established. For years, Rich maintained the youth baseball diamonds at the Georgetown Park. He loved to watch his grandchildren play football, soccer, and baseball, as well as just being with them. Rich never met a stranger, and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be missed by all that knew him. A celebration of life for Rich Starwalt is scheduled for 11:00am on Friday, December 28, 2007 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Final resting place will be at Forest Park Cemetery in Georgetown with military rites being conducted by the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post 203. Officiating will be Pastor James Blue. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Richs name to the Georgetown-Ridge Farm and Salt Fork Athletic Boosters.
