Rex Dean Edwards, 62, of Danville, went to be with the Lord at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Rex was born on January 4, 1948 in Danville, the son of Harold and Mildred (Himmelright) Edwards. He married Patricia Ann Robbins on April 3, 1971 in State Line, Indiana. She survives. He is also survived by two sons-Joshua (Erin Brown) Edwards of Whitestown, Indiana and Jeremy (Heather) Edwards of Oswego, Illinois; four brothers- Harold (Norma) Edwards of Danville, Lowell Edwards of Georgetown, Jerry Edwards of Danville and Bob (Libby) Edwards of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; three sisters- Wanda (Jack) Dungan of Warsaw, Indiana, Gail (Vernon) Huber of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and Sharon Detamore of Bismarck; three grandchildren- Zac Edwards of Whitestown, Indiana, Ben Edwards and Meia Edwards both of Oswego, Illinois; aunt- Margaret Martin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother- Dale Edwards. Rex graduated from Bismarck High School in 1966. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. After serving in the Air Force, Rex worked for Hyster for 10 years. From there he went to work at Thysseen Krupp Gerlach for 35 years as a Journeyman Machinist, until he retired on May 1, 2010. Rex was presently a member of The Vineyard Church in Danville. He was a true man of God, avid reader, aeronautical enthusiast who enjoyed relaxing in his recliner, NASCAR and spoiling his grandchildren. A Celebration of the life of Rex Dean Edwards will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Jay Sorrell officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., immediately before the Celebration, Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park, with full military rites being conducted by American Legion Post #210. Memorials may be made to the Vineyard Church.
