Rev. Leon Charles Korb

Reverend Leon Charles Korb, 93, of Ridge Farm, went to be with the Lord at 3:36pm on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman, IL. He was born October 15, 1925 in Traverse City, Michigan, the son of Joseph (Gertrude) and Esther Root Korb. Leon married Shirley Parker on March 13, 1945, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage until her passing on April 3, 2000. He later married Mary Spires, who also preceded him in death on October 5, 2012.

Those who will miss him include: his three daughters, Donna Sue (Steve) Hughes of Georgetown, Annette (Dennis) Smith of Ridge Farm, and Jennifer Cornwell of Blue Grass, Iowa; his 13 grandchildren, Dwayne (Shannon) Hughes, Shelly (Rob) Dowers, Dean (Amber) Hughes, Sheila (Russ) Mingee, Dustin (Kimberly) Hughes, Amanda (Scott) Pittman, Jacqueline (Patrick) Wilson, Logan (Paige) Smith, Kaitlin (Jacob) Harden, Regan Smith, Reed Smith (fiance Adalyn Moorehead), Brianna (Matthew) Sampson, and Parker Cornwell (Amanda Castro); his 26 great grandchildren (with another due in Sept); and 8 great-great grandchildren; as well as his step-sons, Greg (Becky) Spires & Jim Spires and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Leona Styck.

Leon was employed by Rockford Life Insurance Co. and was a pastor in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 51 years. He enjoyed gardening, mowing, Western movies and books, trips to Florida, and teasing his family and friends. Leon was known to love his God, his Church, and his family.

A celebration of Leons life will be at 11:00am, Monday, May 6, 2019 at Georgetown Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 201 Frazier St, Georgetown, IL, with Pastor James Blue officiating with Rev. Scott Pittman assisting. Visitation will be held 3:00pm-7:00pm, Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Georgetown, located at 200 E West Street. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials donations may be given in his name to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
