Rev. Dr. Willard G. Huels, Plainfield, IN and formerly of Danville passed away on March 27, 2010 at Brownsburg Meadows in Brownsburg, Indiana. Willard was born May 8, 1915 in Michigan City, Indiana son of Harry and Coretta (Plumber) Huels. He married Bessie McLain on June 7, 1936; she preceded him in August of 1992. He later married Joan Johnson on May 5, 1998; she preceded him in October of 2001. Survivors include daughter: Mary (Marc) Schmidt of Plainfield, Indiana; nine grandchildren: Bradley, Jeffrey, Donna, Keeley, Charisma, Charity, Chad, Christine, and Ryan; as well as twenty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin daughters, infant son and son Willard, granddaughter Kimberly, brother Harry, and two sisters Genieva and Bessie. Willard received his Doctorate in Clarksville, Tennessee and had served in ministry for 57 years; starting churches in Bismarck, IL, Chatsworth, IL, Kankakee, IL, Knox, IN, Hazel Crest, IL, and ending his career at the First Baptist Church in Danville, IL after 20 years. He enjoyed reading and traveling; loved working with people; but, most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Willards Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 2, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Pastor Ronald Kuhns and Jerry Cummings officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 Thursday evening at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Mausoleum in Danville. Memorials may be made in Willards name to The First Baptist Church in Danville.
