Rev. Bryan P. Sampson

Rev. Bryan Sampson, 59, of Danville, passed away at 8:18pm, Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Chester and Janet {Campbell} Sampson. He was united in marriage to Jessica Redtman on October 30, 1982. She will miss him dearly.

Bryan is also survived by: his sons, Christopher Sampson & Daryl Sampson; his parents, Chester & Janet Sampson; his brothers, Stephen (Lisa Marie) Sampson & Keith (Lisa Ann) Sampson; his 2 nieces, 4 nephews, and numerous aunts and uncles. He was proceeded in death by 2 nephews.

Bryan worked as a general contractor since the age of 12, until his death, using skills he learned from his father. On Valentines Day, 1982, Bryan accepted Jesus as his personal Savior, turned away from his life of alcohol and drugs, and walked in a new life as a child of the King. In 1993 Bryan and his family moved to Lynchburg, Virginia to attend Liberty University and pursue his passion of being a minister. Graduating in 1996, he went on to pastor churches in Maryland and Illinois, most recently at Danville Evangelical Church. He enjoyed people, guiding them spiritually, helping them when they were hurting and celebrating their achievements. Bryan lived everyday to show Christ to others.

Bryan loved his wife more than himself, and gave himself for her, just as Christ gave himself for his church. They were more than best friends, an example of true love that is not often seen. He spoiled her and will be missed very much in her life.

Bryan also enjoyed tropical fish, especially African Cichlids and his 2 foot South American Red Tail Catfish that lived in the basement. He read non-fiction, history and books on the bible often more than one at a time. Bryan also was a Baltimore Ravens fan, loved riding his Honda Shadow, enjoyed teas from around the world and, although he did not like to admit it, loved his little yorkies.

Bryan will be missed by his family, many friends, congregation and home improvement customers.
