Regenia Catherine Foreman

Regenia Catherine Foreman, 101, died Thursday (March 7, 2024) at Brookdale Senior Living in Urbana, IL surrounded by family.

Regenia was born October 9, 1922 in Beattyville, KY, the daughter of Troy Sampson and Orphia Watts Abney. She married Robert Lindsey Foreman in 1964. Along with her husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Homer Charles, Dairrell and Doyle Abney.

Regenia will long be remembered by two children, Judy Griffith and husband Phil of Urbana, IL and son Bill Gray and wife Ann of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Keri Bemoras, Lesli Griffith, Molly Etchebarren and Cory Gray; seven great-grandchildren Alex Olson, Phillip and Briana Garza, Graycen and Lucy Etchebarren and Kayla and CJ Gray; two great-great grandchildren, Benicio Garza Smith and Kenny Olson; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Regenias work life began at an early age as a restaurant waitress. And followed by many years as a Dental Assistant for two local dentists. Regenias and husband Bobs social nature led to a long stint as Elks Club restaurant hosts for Lodge 332.

Regenia was unquestionably the matriarch of her family and that led to planning and executing large family dinners and parties which often featured Euchre games peppered with family bravado and good-natured ribbing. She and "Papa" Bob spent many summer vacations with grandchildren, Keri and Lesli and Cory and Molly.

Regenia was a purveyor of friendly pranks short sheeting beds of guests or appearing in hallways dressed in a gorilla suit. She loved dressing in evening gowns and dancing the night away at local balls or at the Elks Club with husband Bob. Regenia was also an accomplished quilter, winning ribbons at local fairs for quilts of many styles.

In later years Regenia and Bob embarked on Caribbean cruises and later purchased an RV and traveled to historic places forming lasting relationships with new friends. They also developed a passion for golf. She and Bob were regular participants in couples events at Wolf Creek Golf Club in Danville, IL and elsewhere in Florida or Texas during winter season.

Regenia Foreman exemplified what it means to be "life of the party". She often was "the party". She loved people, her family and friends; she loved good fun; she simply loved life all of it.
