Rebecca A. Sheppard

Rebecca A Sheppard passed away peacefully at home in Danville on November 26, 2024.

She was born on December 22, 1946, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, the daughter of Stafford E. & Ruth Mathews Davis, both deceased.

She married James K. Sheppard on August 9, 1970, in Peebles, Ohio.

She attended Johnson Bible College (now University) in Tennessee and loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, reading and Bible history. Scrapbooking, arts and crafts, yard sales, and taking notes on everything were her hobbies. She worked at the public libraries in Cincinnati, Ohio, Danville, and Walgreens Accounting in Danville. Working with children, she set-up what she called Tuesday school in Ridge Farm, Illinois, and helped prepare children in the community for school, along with Bible stories, playtime, and snacks. She insisted on changing the décor at home to match the season or holiday and created many scenes and decorations. Throughout the years she made matching mother-daughter dresses, helped with alterations to special occasion dresses and dance recital costumes for her grand-daughters. She loved nature, Kickapoo State Park, and was an Audubon Society member. She loved the springtime at Kickapoo when the redbuds were blooming, with the green background of trees reflected across the ponds. She always looked for the deer and counted every one of them. Playing old hymns on her piano was another source of peace for her.

She is survived by her husband Jim, brother Stephen (Karen) Davis of Salem, Virginia, daughter Gayla of Danville, grand-daughters Jailyn Bankhead of Danville, and Jaliyah (Malik) Dillard of Champaign, great grandsons Paxton, Malikai and Maijor, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
