Rebecca 'Becky' Proffitt Williams

Rebecca Jean (Becky) Proffitt Williams, 58, of Indianola, IL, went to be with her Lord at 12:19am on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at the Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville, after a long and brave battle against cancer. She was born on July 29, 1952, in Tuscola IL, the daughter of Orval and Elizabeth (Harrison) Proffitt. She is survived by her step mother, Lois Proffitt, of Ridge Farm, a brother, Rondal Proffitt of Arcola, a sister, Sara (Carroll) Baird of Indianola, and a sister-in-law, Cindy Proffitt, of Colorado Springs, CO. Two step brothers, Terry (Valerie) Lewis of Ozark, Alabama, David (Valerie) Lewis of Georgetown, and a step sister, Brenda (Chuck) Langloss of Clarksville, TN, also survives her. Becky is also survived by her 5 nieces and nephews, Nathan Baird of Lafayette, IN, Erin Baird of Indianola, Gary Baird of Springs, CO, and several step nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Chuck. Rebecca attended Ridge Farm High School and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1981, with a degree in plant and soil management. She later graduated from DACC with a degree in computer programming and worked for a time at Carle Clinic in Champaign. She was a Master Gardener, loving to work in the garden. She was a member of East Park Church of Christ and loved teaching Bible Classes. Her family was very important to her. Rebecca lived her life as a testimony to faith, striving always to lead others to Christ. She was a wonderful example to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Rebeccas Life will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 10:30am, at the East Park Church in Danville, located at 1224, East Voorhees Street in Danville with Dennis Floyd officiating.
