Rebecca Ann (Ward) McBride, 48, formerly of Danville, passed away on 22 August, 2010 at home. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, immediately followed by a service celebrating her life officiated by the Rev. Bob Hoffman. Her memorial will be at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery where she will be privately interred at a later date. Becky was born on May 22, 1962 in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Stephen and Dorothy (Robeck) Ward. She married Michael Scott McBride on October 3, 1987 at Fort Drum, New York. Survivors include her husband, (COL) Scott McBride, and their son Dylan; her mother Dorothy Ann Ward, of Danville; her brothers Ronald Ward and his wife Jeanne, of Danville, Stephen Ward, and his special friend, Robin Van Pamel of Irving, Texas, and Timothy Ward and his special friend, Tonya Shields of Danville. Also surviving are her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in her passing by her infant brother, Sister, Lori, and her Father. Becky graduated with honors from Danville High School and earned her bachelors degree in design from Eastern Illinois University where she was a talented student scholarship recipient and graduated as an honor student. Becky had a deep faith in Christ which never wavered even as cancer afflicted her body for a second time. She was a loving, selfless, graceful, and poised wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who enjoyed her family immensely. Everything she touched reflected her gifts as an artist and a creator. Her artwork won many awards at both the local and the national level. Becky lived in many military communities across the U.S. and served as a family support group leader in several of the units in which Scott served. For her leadership and selfless and loving support of Soldiers and their families, especially during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, she was the recipient of many awards including the prestigious Mary E. Walker award and the Commanders Superior Service award. She did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, and many church communities. She was an avid gardener, loved practicing Bikram Yoga, the beach, and was very environmentally conscientious. Memorials can be made to the charity of the donors choosing.
