Raymond A Zien, 84, of Georgetown passed away March 19, 2017 at Hawthorne Inn, Danville, Illinois. He was born on June 8, 1932, in the town of Cadott, Wisconsin, the son of Carl and Gladys (Klingbeil) Zien. He is survived by: a son, Daniel (Betty) Zien of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter, Melissa (Rick) Turner of Se-dalia, MO; three step-daughters from his marriage to Dorothy (Vanderport) Zien , Thelma (Joe) Grave of Georgetown, Terri (Jeffrey) Hawkins of Yorktown, VA, & Tracey (Keith) Sculle of Sherman; eleven grandchil-dren, Jenna (Jim) Wirth, Justin Grave, Bob (Trisha) Grave, Louree (Vince) Benavidez, Matthew (Julie) Zien, Tyler (Shannon) Hawkins, and Kyle (Stephanie) Hawkins, Chelsea Turner, Sarah (Jae) Kim, Laura Turner, Gracie (Michael) Haugen, several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Dorothy, parents, and siblings, Allen R. Zien, Carl J. Zien, Drew (LaVerne Pearson), Genevieve J. (Zien) Patterson, Harold E. Zien, and Katherine Karoline Zien. In 1949, Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army, completed basic training at Fort Riley, Manhattan, Kansas and was deployed to Korea. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1952. In 1953, Raymond en-listed in the U.S. Air Force. During his tenure he was stationed at numerous locations including Newfound-land (Canada), South Carolina, Alaska, Michigan, Washington, Missouri, and Illinois. In 1969, he was de-ployed to Vietnam and was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay Air Base until August 1970. Raymond retired from the Air Force on March 31, 1971, and was employed at Newport Army Ammunition's Plant until his retire-ment. As per his wishes, Ray's body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. A private family memorial will be held at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery. Donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 E.
