Raymond Thompson, 87, of Georgetown passed away at 7:30am, Friday, April 28, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 10, 1936, in Danville, IL, the son of Elzo and Anna {Fleener} Thompson. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Larsen on February 2, 1958. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Brian L (Violet) Thompson of Attica, IN, and Janet Kay (George) Sprouls of Cayuga, IN; his grandchildren, Rachel, Ren, Jeanine, Darla, Carolyn, Dayna, Cody, Jennie, Levi, Doug, Johnathan, & Kimberly; his 19 great grandchildren; his brother, William Thompson. He was preceded by his parents; his son, Dale E Thompson; his daughter, Rayna Stevenson; and his grandson, Dustin Thompson. Raymond worked for many years for General Motors. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and riding horses. He enjoyed watching westerns especially with John Wayne. He never met a stranger and loved to talk to people and get to know them. Raymond loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them and his presence in their lives will be dearly missed. A celebration of Raymonds life will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor Gary Farris officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, IL. Memorial donations may be given in his name to donors choice of charity.
