Raymond A. Lewellyn, 53, of Danville, passed away at 9 AM on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in the comforts of his own home. Raymond was a Captain at the Public Safety Building in Danville, IL. He had worked there for over 30 years and was due to retire in January of 2018. Raymond was born on August 22, 1962 and raised in the Danville Area. He attended Oakwood High School and later went to DACC and received his Associates Degree in Accounting. Raymond was a huge supporter of his sons' athletic careers and attended every game while they were in High School and also attended all the College games he could. Both of his sons became Police Officers because of the love they had for their father and the work he did. He leaves behind his mother, Tina Lewellyn, his father, Gene Lewellyn, and his two sons, Aaron and Chris Lewellyn. He was a wonderful son, amazing father, true role model and a best friend. He touched the lives of so many around him and will truly be missed. Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61834. A celebration of his life will be held at 5 PM following the visitation. Memorials can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
