Raymond K. Land, 78, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:13pm, Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on March 19, 1935, in Georgetown, IL, the son of Leon and Margaret {Galyen} Land, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Mildred E. Hart on September 8, 1954, in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his sons, Brian Land of Edmond, OK, Brad (Sherri) Land of Georgetown, & Bruce (Jean) Land of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Jake Land, Braden (Abby) Land, Danielle (Dane) Jarvis, Amber Land, Alex Land, & Ragan Land; his step-grandchildren, Meghan Verkler & Kristin Verkler; his great grandchildren, Anderson Land & Jaren Land; his brother, Frank (Jackie) Land of Georgetown; and many nieces, nephews, & extended family & friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Hart, and his brother, Norman Land. Ray was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force serving 4 years in the Korean War. He worked as a salesman for W.M. Hales Co. in Danville, selling construction & mining equipment. He was a member of the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Ray was one of the original members of the Civil Defense Police Force prior to Georgetowns established Police Department. He really enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, & watching all of his childrens and grandchildrens sports activities. He loved spending time with his family & friends while watching the world go by from his chair in his garage. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Georgetown Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Hopper officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home assisted his family with arrangements.
