Danville- Raymond Hatfield, 76, of Danville passed away at 6:45 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Vermillion Manor Nursing Home in Danville. He was born on April 3, 1934 in Danville to Veston Edward and Sarah Opal Wells Hatfield. He married Dorothy Fegett on October 7, 1954 in Oakwood. She survives. Also surviving are son Raymond Edward Hatfield, Jr. of Danville; two daughters Delorah Kay (Vernie) Denton of Catlin and Diane (Terrance) Treadway of Westville; sister Carolyn (Kendall) Goff of Gibson City; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; and very special friend Gene Woodard. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Raymond worked for G.E. for 13 years before going to Holmes Bros. where he worked as a machinist until his retirement after about 30 years. He was known as the area bicycle repair man in the Hillery area. Raymond was also a self-taught guitar player and loved his music. A service to celebrate the life of Raymond Hatfield will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Pastors James Blue and Curt Darling will officiate. Burial will follow at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, November 2 also at Sunset in Danville. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Vermillion Manor Nursing Home for their loving care.
