Raymond G. Steele

Ray G. Steele, 90 of White House, Tenn, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away on May 10, 2012 in White House, Tenn. He was born on January 27, 1922 in Warren, Ark., the son of Ray O. and Mable (Curtis) Steele. Both are deceased. He married Helen McCord on August 21, 1991. She preceded him in death. Ray is survived and will be missed by his two sons; Alan (Kathy) Steele of Lafayette, IN, Don (Glynda) Steele of White House, TN., and three daughters; Dee (Jeff) Jones of New Orleans, LA., Patty (Jim) Shake, and Libby (Mike) Willett, both of Danville. His step-mother, Helen Steele, sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one sister, Helen (Bob) Hackman of Danville, and several nieces and nephews also survive Ray. In addition to his parents and wife, his son Mike Steele also preceded Ray in death. He was an Air Force Veteran of WWII. Was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America, and enjoyed extensive travel across the U.S. and Canada. Roy retired from the C&EI/Union Pacific Railroad after many years of service. A Celebration of the Life of Ray G. Steele has been scheduled for 1:00pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park with military rites. Rev. Dr. Jimmie Hopper has been asked by the family to officiate the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00am until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
